Yankee bonds : Bonds issued In America by foreign firms and are dominated in U.S dollars.According to Securities Act of 1933 such type of bonds must be registered with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)before being sold.It may take around 4 months for such bonds to be opened for public.

According to data provider firm Dealogic foreign financial firms have sold around $36.4 billion of investment grade bonds in U.S till 2011.Yankee bonds have come in 53 separate offerings, a 112% jump on last year’s 25 deals up to this point.
